Sincerely, Connie STANLEY J. DERDA,LT. COL. U.S.A.F. (RET.) Age 91 of Dayton,Ohio passed away Tuesday, April 16,2002. Stanley was born April 4,1911 in Jewett city,CT. Stanley was a high school teacher at Griswold High School in Jewett City,CT until he joined the Air Force in 1947. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in August 1968 after proudly serving his country for 21 years. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Alice (Sullivan) Derda. Survivors include his daughter, Meg and husband Mike Schmidt of Dayton,Ohio. Sons, Louis J. Bakanowsky and wife Marie of Pterborough,N.H.,Paul D.Derda and wife Martha of Broomfield,CO. and J. Michael Derda and wife Jennifer of Navato,CA. Granddaughters,Denise and husband Scott Ankarlo of Broomfield,CO., Debi and husband Jeffery Wingfield of Erie,CO.,and Michelle Derda and fiance Edward (Ted) Lomicka of Nashville,TN. Grandsons, Louis J. Bakanowsky and wife Nancy of Ashburnham,MA., Michael "Stan" Shmidt of Kettering,OH., Sean P. Derda and fiance Evelyn Bush of Cape Canaveral ,FL. and Arron C. Schmidt and wife Beth of Riverside,OH., and 10 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind a devoted friend William (Bill) Hebert. Mass of Christian burial will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday ,April 19,2002 in the Maria Joseph Living Center Chapel, 4830 Salem Ave., Dayton,Ohio with burial in Dayton National Cemetary. The family will receive friends one hour prior to time of service. The family has requested that contributions be made in Stanley`s memory to Hospice of Dayton or the Disabled Veterans. Arrangements by Newcomer-Barclay Funeral Home, Needmore Rd.,Dayton,Ohio.
