History of Montville generally refers to Henry A. Baker's book (Hartford, 1896). His inaccuracies are infamous. With that said, I will tell you what Baker says: Page 501 is the beginning of a section on the Whaley families. The quote you are seeking is part of a listing of children of Alexander Whaley: "Samuel, b. 2 Jan., 1754; m. Olive Darrow." Page 502 expands "SAMUEL (7) b. 2 Jan, 1754, son of Alexander Whaley and Elizabeth Shaw; married Olive Darrow, daughter of Christopher Darrow and _______ _______. His children were all born in Montville. He was a farmer and lived on the farm afterwards occupied by Hazard Browning, located on the old Colchester road, and was adjoined on the east by the farm of Dr. Ephraim Fellows. He removed to the state of New York, where he died in 1813. [Children listed]" Patricia Maher <edithmaher@yahoo.com> wrote: A source says: Olive DARROW married Samuel WHALEY, b. 2 Jan 1754 from History of Montville p.501. It does not say whose History. If you have access to a Montville history could you look this up and tell me exactly what it does say? Is the date of birth Olive's or Samuel's? Is Olive's father given? Anything would be appreciated. Thanks. Pat. Maher __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo!
