Thought when I responded to Linda's query it would come to the list, but it did not. I will post what I sent to her and also some other information I just came across. Based on information I collected at the Historical Society in Lyme, Stephen and Lydia had the following four children: Theophilus, Nicholas, Dorothy, and Anna. Lydia died in 1765 and Stephen remarried to Susanna Huntley. They had at least one child, Stephen. The only Reuben listed in the information was the son of Joseph and Mary (Unknown) Ransom, born ca. 1750. Joseph and Mary had eleven children. Joseph was Stephen's brother. I have not verified any of this information. Much of the research seems to have been conducted by a Josiah O. Hatch and a Harry Ransom. Lyme Land Records 20:22 and 20:225: Theophilus Gates and wife Dorothy deed 25 Sept 1786 to Samuel Beckwith of E. Haddam. Dorothy is named as daughter of Lydia (Lord) Ransom. Note placed beside entry on Dorothy: b. 1756, d. 1855, m. 1781. Theophilus Ransom of Watertown, Conn deeds 24 Sept 1784 "to my natural sister Annah Beckwith and her husband Samuel Beckwith ... piece of land that fell to me and my 2 sisters Annah and Dorothy by our honoured mother Lydia Ransom (Lord) dec'd which fell to her by her father Theop. had dec'd.
