Thanks to all those who responded to my request on the Rogerenes. I have since received a lead on where some records might be but the place is closed for the next couple of weeks. It is interesting how each one of us interpret what the Rogerenes were. Hardly a cult, as they still agreed with the basic tenets of the Congregational Church but believed in literal interpretation of the bible (as they saw it) and so said the Sabbath did not have to be on Sunday, baptism whould be as it was by Christ (immersion), and the government had no right to impoase fines and penalties for religious reasons. And Saltonstal took John Rogers beliefs personally and was extremely cruel to him -- thought Rogers was doing these things to spite him (Saltonstall). Hardly very Christian himself. I am reading a lengthy biog sent to me by NEHGS and will be visiting the online articles suggested. Thanks so much. Pat. Maher ____________________________________________________ Sell on Yahoo!
