Their son, John II Gallop/Gallup is head of the Connecticut Family Branch and the name the CT family members, for the most part is spelled GALLUP. There is a Gallup Family Association, and they are working on getting out an updated Genealogy book about the family. I believe that one of the officers of the association is on this mailing list. 3. Ann Marr: I hope the following will be helpful. Since you have sent this query to CTNEWLON, I shall write of the Harris Family of that area. I hope that some of them will match. My 6GGrandfather, John Gallup III md. Elizabeth Harris b. Feb. 8, 1654, Ipswich, MA ad daughter of Thomas & Martha (Lake) Harris. Since John III is son of John II & Hannah (Lake), Gallup, they are most likely first cousins. John II Gallop/Gallup, son of John (1-1) and Christobel (Brushett) Gallop b.1615 or earlier Bridport, England; bapt, Jan 25, 2630 St. Mary's, Bridport, Dorsetshire, England; d. Dec 19, 1675 South Kingston, RI; m. 1643 Poston Mas to Hannah Lake bapt. Mar 3, 1643 North Benflett, England daughter of Johm and Mary (Read) Lake. Hannah came to this country, arriving Oct 6, 1635, on the ship Abigail, with her sister Martha, and her widowed mother. On this same voyage Elizabeth Reade Winthrop, sister of Margaret and wife of John Winthrop, Jr. returned to this country. John came to this country on the ship Griffin with his mother, brother and sister Joan, arriving at Boston on Sep, 1633. John II annah (Lake) Gallup had a large family. As I said before, I descend from John III, his brother BenAdam, and a sister Christorbel, who was named for her Grandmother Christobell Gallop, wife of John I Gallop. The daughter, Christobel md. 2. I am trying to figure out how to crumble this brick wall. Does anyone have any hints - Jabez Holmes, b abt 1748, son of Samuel Holmes and Lucretia Bill - married Lydia Harris, b. abt 1754, daughter of Ephraim Harris and Elizabeth Harris. Their daughter HANNAH CHAPMAN - she is my wall. Supposedly she married a Chapman - right now I am leaning towards him being Jason Chapman, son of Alpheus and Martha Holmes. The Chapman line is not well documented - mostly info comes from A History of Montville by Henry A. Baker, which is not rock steady. So I think I need to attack from the Holmes end - and can't figure out who MARTHA HOLMES is. As far as I am concerned, the Mayflower Quarterly article about Samuel Holmes, the Messenger, by Margaret Harris Stover, stopped one or two generations too soon - right at my brick wall. Ms. Stover, if you are out there, help! Thanks, Ann Marr

    3. Hi Janet, I am currently showing Edward as Joanna's father (see http://members.cox.net/trm/AveryJames.htm). I did not personally research Joanna's ancestry, but obtained the name of "Edward" for her father from Larry Chesebro's site http://www.chesebro.net/ . I just visited his site again and extracted the two sources shown below that are shown for Edward. He also lists "Margaret (unknown)" as Edward's wife and shows their family and parentage. In your pursuant research of Joanna's ancestry, I hope this information will confirm Edward to be Joanna's father. If you find this not to be the case, please let me and Larry know and we will revise our information appropriately. -Tom Melton Sources listed on Larry Chesebro's site for Edward Greenslade: 1. 1. New London Day
    2. Does anyone know if the New London Day is indexed at the library? I would like to see if I can find a record of a marriage and a birth that has occurred within the last 20 years, either in New London or Norwich, but I don't have dates. The best I can figure is that these events occurred between 1986 and 1996. Any advise would be greatly appreciated, Pat

    3. Hello all, I just wanted to let everyone know that I have put my family history online at http://www.allthroughtheages.com/indexfamilytree.htm Please feel free to look around it and let me know of any errors, omissions, etc. THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS so when looking through it understand that. I appreciate any and all comments on it. I am but human and there will probably be mistakes so just shoot me an email and I will get to it. I want to thank everyone that has helped me get this far in my research and I have further to go yet, but without help I would not have been able to get this far. I decided to go ahead and put online what I have so far as if I keep putting it off it will never be online and then someone may not be able to utilize it. I have many many surnames and many areas of the US that are on this. You will find some links that are not up yet as I am slowly getting them together. I will be placing photos online with these pages soon so keep checking back and if there is anything that you would like to add to it please feel free to email me.
