Would like to learn if there are any records from the First Congregational of Lyme, at Hamburg available. Either in printed form or other ways. Baptism, marriage and death.
Thanks so much , Kit and Scott ! I didn't expect a reply so soon ! I sure was hoping for a connection. My aunt lived in Gales Ferry and I'd always wondered about the connection between that name and the man who once lived here in my house. I really appreciate your time in looking this up . Does anyone happen to know who Gales Ferry is named for?...OK , I understand the Gales part ! but wondered if anyone knew a first name.. or family names. I live in a house once owned by Gen. Somers ( Summers ) Gale in Vermont and have always wondered if there was a connection. This town was settled by people from CT as many VT towns were at least in this area. Thanks, Mary Ann

Hi Listers, I am quite sure that Elijah Fargo married Nancy Brown and they had 4 children as listed below. I searched Ancestry.com for Nancy Brown and a list of several came up. Of those several only one was reported without a husband and of the appropriate age range. That was Nancy Brown, the daughter of Father: Jedediah Brown Mother: Sarah Wheeler. That Nancy Brown was born b: September 02, 1799, in Stonington, New London, Connecticut. I have never found proof of who married Elijah Fargo, however, this one is a possible. She is a bit younger than Elijah. Does anyone know any reason she should be ruled out? Perhaps a marriage to someone else when the children were being born, or died young. I would appreciate feed back if someone has evidence one way or another. Thanks. don't know specifically abour your shoals family, but the fact that they ended up in windham is a clue - The History of Woodstock has 9 volumes one of which is loaded with genealogy of all the families in that area - in it I found info I've never seen anywhere else - I think those volumes are available in most connecticut town libraries - good luck! I personally haven't been there in a year but they are extremly helpful there Hi Bert, I made it to the cemetery today, when I asked for a map and information for your brother, they knew right away who I was talking about. Seems there was another girl that went there yesterday asking for the same information! Well, I did get two pictures, and a map, do you still what them? Cedar Grove Cemetery is 83 acres! WOW! There are some pretty nice graves in there! My 15 year old went with me, she was wondering around with me. It's a rainy day here and seemed like the place to be. If you want me to print out the pictures, I can mail them with the map. Let me know. I would be will to help out anyone else also.....
