Hello, I am looking for a John Minor, whose daughter Hannah married Davis Rogers, August 21, 1774 in New London, Connecticut. The entry in the book of John Hempsted reads: "Aug' 21st [1774] Davis Rogers son of Nathan Rogers and Hannah Minor, daughter of John Minor was joyn in marriage at the Widdow of Jn Prentises." [NEHGS]. The Rogers were a Seventh Day Baptist or Sabbatarian family and Elder Davis Rogers led the Waterford, Connecticut Seventh Day Baptist Church for 19 years. In 1804, Davis Rogers and his entire family migrated to Preston, Chenango County, New York. Who was John Minor, father of Hannah Minor Rogers? jeanne bedwell
The Grassy Hill Cemetery is listed as being in the Town of Lyme, situated on Grassy Hill, NEAR the Grassy Hill Congregational Church. The mailing address for the Church is Old Lyme. Are they right on the border of these towns?
Would this be the church where David Howard, born 1720 was the minister? He was the first minister of a Congregational Church. He married Lucy Miner. Grassy Hill Road transverses three towns, East Lyme, Old Lyme and Lyme. Entrance to Grassy Hill Road is off Rte. 1(also known as Boston Post Road) in Old Lyme, east side of Rogers Lake, north to Lyme. Splits to East Lyme, also continues in Lyme to Beaver Brook Road. The Congregational Church that you have mentioned is about 3 miles from the entrance to Grassy Hill Road in Old Lyme. Hope this helps you.
Would like to find the geographical location of Grassy Hill in New London County, CT

Seeking information about a Strict Congregational or Separatist Church that was formed in 1755 by a small group of people who had withdrawn from the North Lyme Church at Hamburg. In 1757 Daniel Miner became their Pastor and he remained in that position until his death. Was this Church located at Grassy Hill? Are there any vital records available from this Church?
