    2. Subject: Flu Date: Tue, 07 May 2002 09:33:05 -0700 From: [email protected] To: letterbox distribution <[email protected]> Hi, Emma, I have also been looking for info re: effects of the Influenza Epidemic in New London County, and although I haven't come up with any specific info, it was suggested I check at a large library for "Statistical Abstract of the United States" - I'm not near a large library, so haven't done so yet. I have also sent an inquiry to the newspaper, "The New London Day", as I've been told they covered the epidemic itself, and have done "Looking Back" articles, also - haven't had a response yet, and am sure if I had access to microfilms of issues of that time period, the info would be there! For general interest, the PBS website has info about the special they did on the "Influenza Epidemic of 1918-19" - it includes a map that animates the path of the epidemic in the U.S.; however, I think it must be pretty general. I started researching after receiving a death certificate for my great-grandfather, who died in Old Lyme, April 20, 1919, and learned he'd had pneumonia for 9 days, influenza for 10 days...I'd previously had no idea anyone in the family had died as a result of the epidemic. I'll be glad to share any info I come across - have planned to add it to the New London County List, and will hope anyone else who finds info will do the same. Good luck, Karlynn [email protected] wrote: > Subject: > > CTNEWLON-D Digest Volume 02 : Issue 101 > > Today's Topics: > #1 [CTNEWLON-L] Asa Jones/Hollister/W [[email protected]] > #2 [CTNEWLON-L] Flu Epidemic 1918ish ["letterbox distribution" <letterbo] > #3 [CTNEWLON-L] Re: Colchester birth [[email protected]] > #4 [CTNEWLON-L] Timothy OConnell [[email protected]] > #5 [CTNEWLON-L] Re: Eliza Gallup [[email protected]] > > Administrivia: > To unsubscribe from CTNEWLON-D, send a message to > > [email protected] > > that contains in the body of the message the command > > unsubscribe > > and no other text. They had the following children: Nathaniel, Benjamin, Thomas, Amous, Deborah and Hannah. Most or all of the children may also have been born at Groton. The family moved to Little Nine Partners, NY and then on to Columbia county. When the children grew up and married, the two oldest sons and wives and families emigrated to Canada in 1799. I am interested in how to obtain vital records to verify this family in Groton. thanks Liz of BC, Canada

    3. Hi Judy, I think there was a book that was recently written on Isaiah and Elizabeth (Tefft) Green. Do you know of this book? Charlie King gg grandson of Joseph Loomer Thompson born in 1821 someplace in New London Co Judy wrote: Hi All, Isaiah and Elizabeth (Tefft) Green resided in Stonington. Isaiah's inventory of 1841 lists a Family Bible. Does anyone have any idea of where it would now be located, or whether the inscriptions have been transcribed and recorded? The Bible may pertain to the GREEN(E) family or the TEFFT family. Isaiah's father was Joshua Green of Charleston, Washington County, RI. Elizabeth's father was George Tefft of South Kingstown, RI, and later Lebanon, CT, then Bolton/Vernon, CT. Any information which would help me track down the actual Bible or the family records contained therein would be dearly appreciated! It goes: I dont know how many of caught this, but the newest issue of The American Genealogist has an article (by Gale Ion Harris) on Hannah Osborne, who married John Ashcraft in Stonington, CT on 12 dec 1670. The article shows that after John died, Hannah was married to Deliverance Blackman, and she was still living in 1719.

    1. [CTNEWLON-L] Hannah Osborn, the daughter of John Osborn
    2. Donna
    3. I need help in getting my Hannah Osborns straighten out. The John Osborn that married Ann Oldage (only child of Richard Oldage) They had a daughter Hannah on Dec 18, 1657 at Windsor, Weymouth, MA. Does anyone have the birth records for this town to see if it was 1657 or 1651 and if it listed parents.? According to jancestry website below they have this Hannah (John and Ann Oldage Osborn) married 1st to Elias Shadock (DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT Year?) and Benjamin Eggleston in 1678. In the 2nd website below it has this same Hannah (of John and Ann Oldage) born in Dec 18 1651 and married to John Ashcraft (September 12, 1670 in Stonington, New London County Connecticut.) He died in 1680 and she married second Deliverance Blackman (1695 in Stonington, New London County Connecticut ). Now in Savage it lists the Shaddock and Eggleston marriages A Genealogical Dictionary of The First Settlers of New England, Before 1692 Volume #3 Oderic - Osier By James Savage http://www.usgennet.org/usa/vt/state/savage/bk3/oderic-osier.htm OSBORN, OSBOURN, or OSBURN, . JOHN, Weymouth, by w. Mary had John, b. 2 Feb. 1640; and Ephraim, 11 Aug. 1657; but how many or wh. intermediate, is not found; yet his d. Mary m. 7 May 1659, John Ross. Elias Shadduck, and next, m. 6 Mar. 1678, Benjamin Eggleston In the third webpage has her married to first Ashcraft, then Shaddock then Eggleston. However, if she married Ashcraft in 1670, Shaddock in 1676 and Eggleston in 1678 There is a problem in Ashcraft didn't die in 1680! And what about poor Deliverance Blackman who was supposed to have married her in 1695. Eggleston didn't die until 1709? So the Hannah Osborn I care about is the wife of John Ashcraft. who was her mother if not Ann Oldage???
