Yesterday, I printed several land records from the late 1700s at my local FHC, all of which related to my ancestor Abraham Emerson. Is there anyone on the list who recognizes the following names, all of whose land was located in Lyme? Reuben Ransom (is this the Reverend Reuben Ransom?) Huldah Rathburn Abigail Emerson (land record indicates she is the granddaughter of Deborah Lord) Many thanks... Linda __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Don't know if I've asked this question before but I'm wondering if anyone has any further knowledge of the following family. I can't seem to find any information about them other than this one census listing. George C. & Rachel L. Emerson, 1850 census (pg. 397) living in Lyme, CT. On this census, George is 31 and Rachel is 27. Living with them are Phebe, age 9, and Harriet, age 3. Thanks for any help you can give. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/XZ.2ADE/1406.1 Message Board Post: Join the club! Have you tried church records for the towns where the family lived? How about probate records for father and siblings and for the father of Susannah Walsworth (who might have said "my daughter, Susannah, wife of----"? Sometimes an unmarried female sibling leaves a will with a lot of information. My biggest problem was solved with a deed which appeared, not in the land records, but in the probate records--the papers, not the journal--when the estate was settled and the land sold. The man in question came from another state to execute the deed. Of course, all this supposes that you can get the microfilms of the records in question. Can be a slow process unless you can go to the CT State Library. Good luck. Ann
