    2. Sandra- There is a lot of information on this Randall family in the book "History of the Town of Stonington, County of New London, Connecticut" by Richard Anson Wheeler..My records show that the wife of John (2) was Abigail Billing. Her maiden name was found in the Billings Family of Connecticut" by Rev. Creighton Spencer-Mounnsey. This book was excerpted in the NEHGS Register, April1927, Pg. 156. However, do not rely on the English ancestry of the Billings. The American Genealogist, January 1999, Says that information is false. Earle

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/XZ.2ADE/728.1 Message Board Post: Hi: I see that your message was posted two years ago. If you’re still interested in hearing from people with ancestors with these surnames from Westerly or Stonington, I am one of them. My great grandmother was a Leila Lamphear (born in 1889 in Westerly, RI). Her parents were John H. (b. 1860-61) and Elizabeth Lamphear (I believe her maiden name was Hannaford). I believe John’s father was a John G. Lamphear (b. 1816 in Westerly) who was married to an Almantha (I think her maiden name was Searle). They had several other children: Crosby, Phebe J, Eunice L, and Charles. They are listed in the 1850 census for Westerly. In 1860, they lived in Stonington, Conn. I think, but I am not certain, that John G’s mother was an Abby Lamphear. For some reason between 1790 and 1840, the family name changed from Lamphere to Lamphear. I’m not sure why this occurred. If you have any information about this family, I would be very grateful if you could send it along. I have been looking into this side of my family for the last 6 months and haven’t made any progress beyond what I mentioned above. Regards

The earliest I know of them in Norwich is 1864.They lived in the Greeneville section of 3rd ward district. They had at least five children, Mary who married a Monahan, Martin who married Mary Trihy, Michael who married Catherine Monahan, Richard, and William. There may also be a Timothy and a Catherine. Four of Michael's sons ran the Hourigan Brother's Funeral Home and a furniture/carpet store. They were Joseph W.(b. 1892), John A. (b. 1879) who married Claudia Morency, James (b.abt 1888) who (I think might have) married Mary Moriarty, and Michael H. Hourigan. There is also a Richard Hourigan VFW Post #594 in the same area of Norwich, of which I would like to know the history of the vet it was dedicated to. My first impression is Richard Hourigan who married Nora Hasler. They once owned a service station. He was the son of Martin Hourigan and Mary Trihy and believed to have been in WWI. Martin and Mary also had "Nellie" who married John J. Somers, (they removed to Bridgeport), John T., who married Mary Clark, George, who married Ann Murphy, Martin Jr., Two Williams(first one died at age 3)and James "Edward" Hourigan who removed to NY City and died 1955. Any information of this Hourigan Family would be greatly appreciated. Thank You in advance. Rob [email protected]
