    3. Hi all, At Obituary Central http://www.obitcentral.com I'm always on the lookout for new research resources on the web. Yesterday I just discovered that Google has a new feature called Google News. Now this isn't the newsgroups as in the past. This is an index of over 4000 news publications on the web. After seeing the new feature I decided to try it out and typed in a surname only to find an obituary that I've been seeking for several days! The URL for the new feature is at http://news.google.com/ Hope this helps! 3. Howard is certainly correct. Thomas Miner is buried in the Wequetequock Cemetery. Who ever asked first about this I can tell you where it is located in Stonington and give you much more information about the area and cemetery but it is best to email me personally. No need to fly there to prove it. I am sure many people on this list can help you. It is an important cemetery in Stonington. This is the area where some of the first settlers had their homes. I have seen the site. He is buried under a large wolfstone with his name carved on one side and his wife's Grace Palmer's carved on the other. I have an early 1930's photo of the wolf stone taken by my greatuncle, Roy Miner, that I can scan and send to the person who wants to know about it. The carving shows up very well, better than it does now. I also have more recent colored photos but the day was rainy so they are not the brightest. Someone in Stonington has a CD-ROM for sale listing the graves at the Denison, Wequetquock, and Old Taugwonk cemeteries and this service is mentioned under Library Notes in the Bulletin of the Stonington Historical Society's, "Historical Footnotes," for Aug. 2002. If you email me I will give you his name and address. Go to www.expedia.com and click on the maps tab at the top , then on the next page, click on find a map, on the next page fill in the hole for area, North America, place Wetequequock, Connecticut, USA you will get a map of where it is. It is right off of Route One on a road to the right between Stonington and Pawcatuck, CT and the next town would be Westerly, RI right over the border. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/XZ.2ADE/1481 Message Board Post: Arcadia Publishing is currently seeking qualified writers and historians to join with us in an exciting publishing venture to document America's epic story. You may already be familiar with Images of America, our pictorial history series, but Making of America is a new narrative-based series, focusing on the history of towns and cities, and their dynamic uniqueness, across the nation. The idea behind Making of America is to map, town by town, city by city, the entire country, creating a quilt of stories to unite the nation. We have only one Making of America book out of Louisiana, which is just about to be released, and we'd like to see that list grow. Books in this series contain a comprehensive, chronological history of a community's development over the centuries, highlighting major events that had an impact on its citizens and landscape. The narrative consists of roughly 45,000 to 55,000 words and is accompanied by an average of 120 historically relevant images (photographs, postcards, sketches, maps, etc.). Each town holds a unique fragment of United States history; we strive to capture these moments in time for everyone to enjoy in a highly readable and visual way. If you are interested in this new publishing opportunity from Arcadia Publishing or know someone who might be, please contact me at [email protected] to request a basic information packet. We look forward to hearing from you.
