    3. I recently came back from a visit with my parents in Ledyard and while I was there I purchased a copy of the Historic Cemetery Inscriptions book for Ledyard. I'll be happy to do lookups for anyone interested. It has very good directions on how to find the cemeteries and I believe it includes all known cemeteries within the town. I also learned that they are working on updating this book which includes dates from 1711 thru 1996. If you're interested in a copy for yourself the Ledyard Library has them available. 2. Chrissie, Have you tried the website, _http://www.findagrave.com/_ (http://www.findagrave.com/) ? You can get directions to most of the known cemeteries in most states. It is a website where you can post gravesites, add bios, photos, etc. Posting information is free, accessing information is free. They make their money from ads posted on the site. It is searchable by cemetery, state and names. I found them through a listing on Rootsweb.com. I am in no way associated with the website other than adding names, but I found that it was an easy way to contribute to others research with out incurring the expense or time necessary to maintain a website. I entered over 2,000 names of people interned at the Starr Burying Ground also known as Starr Cemetery, Groton, CT. Paula Lewis Picken

    1. COYLE - THOMPSON Family Photograph
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Helen E. COYLE which was taken at the Durgan Studio in Norwich, Connecticut. The photograph was probably taken sometime in the 1880's with Helen looking to be about 3-4 years old at the time. In addition to her name someone has written "Daughter of George COYLE and Alice M. THOMPSON COYLE" on the back of the photograph. Based on limited research I did find Alice M. THOMPSON living with her Uncle Martin B. THOMPSON and Aunt Angeline A. THOMPSON in East Lyme, CT during the 1880 census. Alice was age 20 at the time, born in CT to CT born parents. Her Uncle Martin was age 44, born in CT, a Machinist whose parents were also born in CT. Aunt Angeline was age 42, born in CT with parents also born in CT. I'm hoping to locate someone from Helen's family so that this wonderful old treasure can be returned to its rightful place with family. If you are a member of this family, or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

    2. Tracey
    3. Hello fellow Listees, I am writing to find out if anyone has, or knows of anyone who has, photographs, or access to photographs, of the house we now live in, which is the former home of Alfred & Grace (KENT) BITTERS, located at 10 Northwood Road, Quaker Hill, Waterford, New London, CT. I am curious to see what the home looked like when Alfred BITTERS first built it for himself and his family. Also, I have heard that this area, I'm not sure if "this area" means Northwood Road or the entire suburb of Quaker Hill, was formerly called Greystone / Graystone Estates and I would give anything to get some history on that. I am not related to the BITTERS or the KENT families (that I know of), so I most likely can not help anyone with their research on said families, but I am interested in the history of the area, the families, the house, etc. Here's hoping someone can help, Tracey

    1. MARY PERKINS
    2. Mary Perkins was my 9th great grandmother. She was married to Captain Thomas Bradbury . In 1692 in Salem Massachusetts, she was condemned in the Witchcraft Trials, but was never executed. Her father John Perkins emigrated in 1631 to the Massachusetts Bay Colony, on the ship Lyon. Two of his sons Joseph & Jebez Perkins moved to Norwich, New London, Ct. Maybe some of their descendants, may have owned the farm. Have you left a message on the Perkins List? Sully

    3. Thank you for some suggestions, the property was owned by another company and in 1998 the town turned down their request for re-zoning. Lattiziri Developement bought the property and they are the ones now trying to get it rezoned for commercial use. Another company just finished a three or four story housing project for elder people, and this is right across the street of the property. I am going to the historical society to see what I can find with the maps they have to see who did own it and when, then I will see what they have on the local people. Thanks again for any and all ideas! Tom

    3. Hi List, Looking for any information on the Perkins family that lived at 189 Jerry Brown Road (could be Drive, Lane)living in Stonington, CT anytime. I have checked the census and can not find anyone at that address. There are plenty for the Stonington, North Stonington area. Maybe it could be a different name in the early times? Reason is, a company from WI wants to demolish the house and put up a 4 story motel, indoor waterpark and a retirement home on the property. This will kill the areas great looks and bring traffic to a very rural area. There will be a town meeting on May 19 to voice our opions, objections. I was thinking that maybe it can be resored as this area was setteled in the 1600's. I will be in touch with the historical society, they have not voiced their thoughs on the matter. It would be a shame to loose over 200 acres. Anyother ideas appreciated..... Tom
