Hi, I am wondering if anyone has found any proof that any of the sons of Caleb CANDE (1st), 1722-1777, were indeed, veterans of the Revolutionary War. I am descended through his eldest son, Caleb 2nd of Oxford, who is buried in Jack's Hill Ceme. According to the Candee family history, by Charles Candee Baldwin on pgs 16-18, it was believed that all of his sons (Caleb 1st) were members of the Rev. War, and that all his children were born as British subjects (bottom of pg 17). I have written to NARA on several anscestors of various lines and they (NARA) state they have no records, even though I might have found from previously written books that a particular person had served, NARA hasn't found any records. I'm assuming some records were lost or destroyed. If anyone has knowledge of the validity of the sons of Caleb partaking in the Rev. War, in particular, Caleb 2nd, please contact me. I do have some information on Caleb's other sons, such as Rev. Gideon, Timothy, & Daniel that moved to the central NY area, if anyone is intersted. Thanks! Dianne
Have you tried searching Tory records? I know there is an organization in Canada which is equal to our SAR & Dar. They have great records. you might pick up your British births thru them. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dianne" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, January 15, 2002 12:05 AM Subject: [CTNEWHAV] CANDE Caleb b 1743 > Hi, > I am wondering if anyone has found any proof that any of the sons of > Caleb CANDE (1st), 1722-1777, were indeed, veterans of the Revolutionary > War.
