visit this web site US Patent office, http://www.uspto.gov/patft/index.html do a search on the patent #. Apparently this one is on file as drawings. However they did not show up on my browser quite possibly you could get copies from them ----- Original Message ----- From: "Margaret" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, January 17, 2002 10:51 AM Subject: [CTNEWHAV] EDWIN THE INVENTOR > Hi listers > > l am new to this list and wondered if someone could help me..... l want to find out what my 2x g.father invented. > > His name was Edwin Robert TOMLINSON 1834-1892 born in England and died in Bridgeport Connecticut > Wife's name Mary Ann TOMLINSON (nee Fantom)1832-1918 > children: > Edwin A Tomlinson 1855-1892 > John W Tomlinson 1856-1897 > Alfred E Tomlinson1859-1900 > > l know from his probate papers it states: patent number 388159 Hose nozzles !!! > But was there any more.. it would be very interesting to find out where these records are so l could perhaps get copies or letters i do not know please if any one could give me any advice on how and where!!!! > I would be most grateful > > thanking you for your time > Margaret from England > *********** > > > > ==== CTNEWHAV Mailing List ==== > Please do not send messages with attachments, HTML, MIME, or any other > enhanced text to the list. Margaret, Go to the US Patent and Trademark Office webiste and do a search by patent number. You can order good copies of the patent papers by mail. The website has information. Cost was $3 when I did so two years ago. What is available at the USPTO website (and at regional USPTO libraries in the United States) generally are abstracts of each patent. You can receive the complete patent document by ordering through the USPTO in Washington DC. My great-grandfather, Frederick Wilson Marshall, was living in the Westville section of New Haven in 1900 when he was granted a patent for an improved Spoke Nipple (the little metal doohickey that attaches a spoke to a bicycle wheel). The patent papers are interesting (3 pages of precise drawings and descriptions of the spoke nipple) and would be well worth adding to your family papers.
