    2. I don't want to get too graphic {you can send me the answer privately at judysphil@aol.com}. What is utro gestation? I found my great great grandmother died of this complication at age 30. I went on google which lead me to a cemetery in New York which had quite a few women who had died as a result of this. But no explanation. It is not on the sites for archaic medical terms. She had baby one week before she died. Thanks. Hope I did not spoil anyone's breakfast. Judy

    3. Judy, I hope that whoever replys with a real answer will post it to the list. I would like to know that answer, too, in case I ever come across it. My guess would be that they gave that name to the condition when a woman bled out after birth. 3. My guess, based on simple latin terminology, is that the death was caused by childbirth. I imagine the term utero gestation was a fancy one for pregnancy, utro should be utero (from uterus), and gestation is basically just a fancy term for growth in the womb. The gestation period being how long a mammal remains in it's mother's womb. I've never seen utero gestation used in old records except for a child that died, either stillborn at right after birth. But I suppose there's no reason it might not be used for women that died right after childbirth too. Most Dr.s (then and now, my apologies to any around) never seem to use a nickel word if they have a silver dollar sized one available.
