/"I was told that it had a pig farm but i am not sure how true that is." /I don't know if this helps but as a child about 1939 my dad used to take me to a site where the poor house was located. Close by was "Farnums pig farm". Dad said Farnum had the contract for collecting New Haven's garbage. It was about a smelly mess as you could imagine. There were numerous pens in various stages of disrepair. When approaching you could smell it before you could see it. As I remember the poor house was built in "tenement style of two or three stories high. I don't remember what the front looked like but the back had full length porches and outside stairs.
