Hi, Edith, According to History of the Adams & Evarts Families, Jerusha was an Evart, and her line is: 43 Jerusha (19,) b 1732, m Felix Meigs 1755, had a daughter Sylvia b May 27, 1760. Her father was 32 WILLIAM. Born in 1700 married 1st Mary Ward of Guilford, Conn., married 2d, Mary Hayden. His father was 14 SAMUEL, Born Dec. 14, 1681, died 1760; married Naomi Abbott, of Killingworth, 1693. His father was 5 DANIEL, Born in Guilford, Conn., 1631; married 1st Mary (???), who died March 31, 1663; married 2d, March 1, 1664, Rebecca Dowd. His father was 2 JOHN, Born in Hertfordshire, England, 1601; married S(???). [The initial is all that is known.] His father was 1 WILLIAM. Born at Tortworth, Gloucestershire, England, 1569-70; married Sarah Everhard, 1593, who inherited an interest in the Everhard estate of Hertfordshire. The Everhards were closely connected by marriage with the famous Hicks family who bore coats of arms and descended from Sir Ellis Hicks who was Knighted by Edward the Black Prince at the battle of Poictiers, Sept. 19, 1356. (See Foster's edition of the Baronetage, page 311, 1881.) It is also recorded that Sarah and William Everts died at an advanced age in Hertfordshire. I am sorry that there are no references for this in the book. There are also references to this couple being in Branford, CT for the 1790 Census. Good luck. Hope this helps.
