My great grandfather, Giuseppe Sparano ( b ~1865 in Benevento Province, Italy) m. Emanuela Asunta DeNigris (b 25Oct1867 in Puglianello, Italy). They came to New Haven CT about 1892 with Emanuela's mother, Lucia Franco DeNigris. My grandfather, Biagio Sparano (aka Robert Sprano) was born in New Haven 2Feb1893, they resided 12 Minor Street......about 1895 they moved to Derby, where 3 more children were born....Edwardo, Maria, and Salvatore. Their first 2 children, Mary and Raffaele were born in Italy before they immigrated to CT. I have found Giuseppe Sparano in the Derby City Directory in 1915, then have found no other information. Family say he went back to Italy, and died there in 1919. The Sparano children all changed the spelling of their last name to Sprano. Lucia Franco DeNigris had other children that came to CT. So far have been able to find names of some of the children, from the ships records..i have: DeNigris, Cantautina (sp?) (Connie) b ~1874, Maria b ~1875, Giuseppe (Joseph) b ~1877, Luigi (Louis) b ~1882 and Philomena (Florence) b ~1885. It is believed they all immigrated to Derby, then settled in the New Haven CT area. Family believe that Lucia Franco DeNigris was living with her daughter Florence and Florence's husband Louis in New Haven when she died. prior to her declining health and death, they lived in Oakville/Watertown CT.Seeking a surname for "Uncle Louis"....Florence and Louis had a grocery store on Grant Street in New Haven, about 1930, have also heard that they took in boarders. Seeking death and burial place for Lucia Franco DeNigris, surname of "Uncle Louie", death and burial place for Florence and Louie. any and all assistance on this branch of the family is gratefully appreciated. I can string together the Giuseppe Sparano family pretty much, but have nothing on the DeNigris. thank you sandee@ionet.net
