    3. (It's probably worth noting that Ansonia was originally called Birmingham, and was part of the town of Derby until 1889.) William Selby was born in 1811 in Belfast, Ireland to William and Mary Selby. William the younger married Marie Caton (Keating) on 21 May 1836 in Belfast. Marie had been born to Thomas and Maria Caton (Keating) on 21 May 1816. At some point the family lived near/at Staleybbridge, near Manchester, England. I don't know anything about their passage to America. Their children were: Mary Selby b. 4 May 1837, married Alfred Barnett Fannie Selby Eliza Selby who was naturalized on 18 Mar 1871 and died in 1896. Eliza is also buried at Pine Grove. Thomas Selby (Selbie) b. 1 Aug 1848 immigrated in 1861 to America and was naturalized on 16 Oct 1868 in Derby, New Haven, Connecticut. Married Annie Bowen (see earlier post) 7 May 1872 in Derby and was working as a Wire Drawer in 1880. By 1900 he and his family lived at 21 Arch in Ansonia, and by 1910, he was working as a machinist in the brass factory. Thomas died on 21 Jan 1911 in Ansonia, and is buried at Pine Grove Cemetery. Thomas and Annie's children were: Anna Louise Selby 29 Jun 1873 - 12 Jul 1953 (buried at Pine Grove) William Henry Selby 16 Jun 1875 - 20 Aug 1927 (buried at Pine Grove) In 1900, the younger William was working as a machinist. Fanny Mary Selby 8 Jul 1877 - 16 Sep 1968 Wethersfield, Hartford, Connecticut (buried at Pine Grove) In 1922, Fanny was working as bookkeeper at Ansonia Flour and Grain Comp Lena Emily Selby 12 Sep 1879 New Haven County - 25 Jul 1944 Ansonia (buried at Pine Grove) married Blackham Arthur Richard Selby 6 Sep 1881 New Haven County - 17 Jul 1949 Ansonia (buried at Pine Grove) Arthur's first marriage, to my great-grandmother Harriet Belle Wallace (FJ Wallace's daughter from an earlier post) was short-lived. They were married on 3 Oct 1911 and Harriette and their baby daughter (living) were back in Mr. Wallace's home by 1920. Later, sometime after 1935, Arthur remarried Edith B. <Unknown>.
