Could someone please tell me if it is true that the first book (containing the earliest records) of Branford town records have been "lost"? I am researching from MI and can't seem to get a definite answer on this. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Have checked the Branford church records and also the Branford land records. Are there any other alternate records that cover Branford after ca 1685? Searching for information on the FANCEY/FANSHAW/FANCHER family in Branford during the period 1685 to 1717. (Catherine FANCHER's marriage to Ebenezer ELWELL in 1717 and William FANCHER's marriage in 1723 to Thankful THOMSON appear in the second book of Branford town records.) William FANCEY/FANSHAW Sr. was in New Haven 1643, Southold LI NY 1652, Setauket/Brookhaven LI NY 1661 to his death in 1675. His son, William Jr. may have been in Brookhaven until ca 1685. Looking for William Jr. and his brother Joseph. Thank you! Alison [email protected] http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~wallner
