    1. [CTNEWHAV] LYNN Family -- Naugatuck (1890 & Later)
    2. Joann Jameson
    3. Brothers Joseph and Austin LYNN, with their wives and children, moved to Naugatuck, CT from Mahanoy City, Schuylkill, PA -- as did their sister Rebecca and her husband, Monroe LEE. I believe that Austin LYNN and the LEE family were already in Naugatuck by 1890, and that the Joseph LYNN family and Austin LYNN's wife and children, followed soon after. John LYNN (nee KEMP), the father of Joseph, Austin & Rebecca, died in PA, 31 Mar 1891, and their widowed mother, Catharine "Katie" (BURNHAM or BURNS) LYNN also made the move to CT, making her home with the youngest of her eight living children, Rebecca LYNN LEE. I have done extensive research on my LYNN family for 15 + years, and would like to make contact with descendants of the branches of the family that lived in Naugatuck. I have much data to share about branches of the family in other parts of the US and in England. Following is what I know about Joseph's & Austin's families (information about Rebecca LEE's family will follow in my next post) : 1. Joseph LYNN, b Jan 1844, Schuylkill Co, PA (probably Port Carbon), mar ca 1877 + Alice, b Apr 1851, England 2. Rebecca LYNN, b May 1878, Mahanoy City, Schuylkill, PA 2 Lilly D. LYNN, b Apr 1882, Mahanoy City, Schuylkill, PA Alice was previously married to a Mr. HUGHES (born Wales), and the children from her first marriage were: John HUGHES, b ca 1866; Mary A. HUGHES, b ca 1868; Margaret "Maggie" HUGHES, b ca 1872; Thomas H. HUGHES, b Feb 1874; all born PA. In 1870 PA, Joseph's occupation was "Engineer." On the 1880 and 1890 PA censuses he was a "Laborer." On the 1900 census for Naugatuck, the family was living on Highland Ave., and his occupation was "Laboror on Road." Step-son Thomas HUGHES was also in the household, and was a "Laborer, Rubber Mill." Also on the 1900 census was the information that Alice had emigrated to the US in 1857, at the age of 3 -- and that she had given birth to 10 children, with 6 still living in 1900. 1. Austin LYNN, b May 1864, Schuylkill Co, PA, mar ca 1884 + Mary, b Nov 1868, PA 2. Ralph LYNN, b Dec 1885, Schuylkill Co, PA 2 Violet LYNN, b Apr 1891, Schuylkill Co, PA 2 George LYNN, b Jan or Jun 1894, CT On the 1900 census, the Austin LYNN family is living at 99 Beebe St, Naugatuck, and Austin's occupation is "Carpenter." His wife Mary had given birth to 3 children at the time of the 1900 census, and all 3 were living. Mary's father was born in Wales and her mother born in England, which makes me wonder if Austin married Mary A. HUGHES, b ca 1868, who was the step-daughter of his older brother, Joseph. John LYNN, the father of the three siblings who resided in Naugatuck, is the son of George LYNN (nee KEMP) and his wife, Ann MARTIN (my gr-gr-gr-grandparents), who emigrated to the US from Redmile, Leicestershire in 1832 and changed their surname from KEMP to LYNN. I have been trying to locate descendants of the 9 children of this couple who survived to adulthood, and have brought together a group of researchers from the various branches. We have been sharing information and working together, along with two of our English KEMP cousins, and would love to hear from our cousins in the Joseph, Austin and Rebecca LYNN lines.
