    3. There were 23 families from Branford, 41 from Milford, Guilford and New Haven, 64 in all, totaling 350 to 375 - who settled Newark NJ. Before they left Branford, the following families signed an article of faith on 30 October 1666: Jasper CRANE signed first for the Branford families, followed by the Rev. Abraham PIERSON.
