I am looking for the family of John P. Soderlund, of MEriden) and his descendents...family, daughter Belinsa, b. 1891, son Clarence, b. 1895, daughter Ethel, b. 1896. I have traced John P. to Meriden in 1903, (along with Peter ..all in the same area of Meriden) and I think I have him on a ships list as Jonas Peter, born 1860, in Sweden ,son of Pehr Eric Soderlund (Glans)...my great grandfather. I have been searching for Pehr (Peter Glantz's) Swedish connections. Peter had a son Charles, my grandfather, who went on to marry Ethel Ives of Meriden. Peter was born Soderlund, in 1835, in Tuna PArish, Sweden and became Peter Glans when he went into the military. He came to America, along with Jonas Peter, his son, a stepdaughter, and his wife Kate Locks. (In Sweden she wasKarin Carlsdotter, daughter of Carl Lax). Does anyone know the history of the Soderlund family of Meriden? Charles was my grandfather..he did well, although Peter did not have a happy life. Peter died in! 1902, Kate in 1900. Family history says that Charles had a brother. His brothers and sisters born in America, all died. I have traced back to Peter's father and mother too...and have found a first wife for PEter, in Sweden, and a 1st husband for Kate too. NOw I would like to compare notes with anyone else who knows about the Swedish community in Meriden at the turn of the century. Thanks for any info.
