Hi everyone, Please DO NOT send your subscription requests directly to the list. They need to come directly to me offlist. Here's a hyperlink that, clicking on it, will pop open another email form for you to simply fill out and send to me <mailto:[email protected]>. Again, put SUNDAY MORNING COFFEE in the subject line and the word 'subscribe' or 'add me' in the body. Thanks. Colleen
Hi all, No, this isn't the Sunday Morning Coffee. I've had quite a few requests from this list from list members who'd like to receive the Sunday Coffee on a regular basis (usually every Sunday) instead of the occasional one I send here. Since I don't normally send the Sunday Coffees to this list, here is your opportunity to receive it every week. If you want it, please send me a message with SUNDAY MORNING COFFEE in the subject line IN CAPITAL LETTERS, PLEASE so I'll be sure to catch it. I'll be doing one tomorrow, but the list will not be receiving it. If I have your email address by then, I'll send you a copy privately. If you're receiving this duplicated, please forgive. Not everyone is signed onto multiple lists. I hope you're all having a SUPER Saturday! :) Colleen
Hi everyone, Well, this is a different kind of warning. Normally, I'd warn you of a virus that you need to be wary of. I am this time too, but this time the virus isn't really a virus; it's a hoax. A message has begun to circulate through Rootsweb's lists warning everyone that if you have the sulfnbk.exe file in your computer (you're instructed to do a 'find'), you're supposed to delete it, then empty your trash bin. Doing so will remove the "infection." The file isn't an infection, nor is it caused from/the result of any virus. It's a necessary file in your computer that allows you to use more than 8 characters to name a file. Please read this from <http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/sulfnbk.exe.warning.html>: "This particular email message is a hoax. The file that is mentioned in the hoax, however, Sulfnbk.exe, is a Microsoft Windows utility that is used to restore long file names, and like any .exe file, it can be infected by a virus that targets .exe files. "The virus/worm [email protected] can arrive as an attachment named Sulfnbk.exe. The Sulfnbk.exe file used by Windows is located in the C:\Windows\Command folder. If the file is located in any other folder, or arrives as an attachment to a email message, then it is possible that the file is infected. "If you have deleted the Sulfnbk.exe file from the C:\Windows\Command folder and want to know how to restore the file, see the How to restore the Sulfnbk.exe file section at the end of this document." With all the true viruses going around, people are jumping quickly on this one and removing the file. While removing it won't cause your computer to crash, it will cause YOU another headache when you can't figure out why you can't name files like you normally would. It is necessary that we all begin to check for ourselves the antivirus sites to see if a virus is real or a hoax. Following are just some of the ones that I know of: Symantec: <http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/vinfodb.html> McAfee: <http://vil.mcafee.com/hoax.asp?> vMyths.com: <http://www.Vmyths.com/> Hoaxbusters: <http://hoaxbusters.ciac.org/> And to find even more hoax-warning sites, try here: <http://urbanlegends.about.com/cs/aboutvirushoaxes/index.htm>. If you have already received the sulfnbk.exe warning and followed through by deleting the file, Symantec and McAfee have the steps you need to restore it. For Symantec's instructions, simply click on the hyperlink I gave you earlier and scroll to the bottom of the page. McAfee's instructions are here: <http://vil.mcafee.com/dispVirus.asp?virus_k=99084&>. Should you receive the hoax message, please don't propagate this by passing it on. Just delete it and perhaps help your friends/relatives by passing this message along to them. I wish you all a FANTASTICALLY FUN Friday! :) Colleen

I'm also looking for info for possible relatives on my father's side...descended from Peter Glantz (Glanz), according to the death certificates. Charles Glantz (b. 1885 in America) was my grandfather and was the son of Peter Glantz(born Soderlund in Sweden), all living in Meriden. John P. Soderlund of Meriden,b. 1860 or 1861 in Sweden to Peter Glantz(Glanz) and another wife, had Clarence, Blenda, Blandina and Ethel in America.John emmigrated in 1881 I think, Peter came over in 1880, with 2 young children and his second wife Carin..who became Kate Locks (Lax) in America, on the CAvalry Baptist Church records. Peter was from Tuna PArish, Sweden and was a soldier. That is why he took the Swedish military name Glans which means shining, lustre. That spelling got changed several times in the new world. I was wondering of there were any Soderlunds left in Meriden. I would love to compare notes. I have traced Peter back to Sweden..have found a brother and several other chil! dren adn have found ships records. I find this great fun. Thanks. Deb Glantz Hanna [email protected] [email protected] rsching: Glantz (Glans, Glanz,Soderlund), Lax, Hanna (h),Ives, Stocking, Merrill, Grinell, Ford, Hall, Borden, etc.
I'm looking for info on my grandmother's dad, Edgar Van Buren Ives, b. 1839. He is in the 1900 Ct/Rhode Island census supposedly. I know his daughter Ethel Florence Ives, lived in Meriden, but I canfind no reference to Edgar in any Meriden history books..lots tho' about John, John Jr., Titus..his ancestors. Can someone point me in the direction of MEriden History or genealogy sources. Thanks so muc. Edgar is elusive. Deb Glantz Hanna [email protected] [email protected] rsching: Glantz (Glans, Soderlund), Hanna (h),Ives, Stocking, Merrill, Grinell, Ford, Hall, Borden, etc.
Did you get the e-mail I sent 12/4 re: the obit. I found?
