The towns of Groton, Waterbury, Ledyard and East Lyme were formed from sections of New London. As many of you may known from your genealogy researching of New London ancestors, early VRs of the town are scarce. The town was burned down in 1781 by a British force led by the infamous Benedict Arnold. The town records were mostly destroyed.
