I *finally* heard from my researcher in Scotland last night after over a month of no messages. She explained that it really nailed her system and she's only now getting back to normal. She said it was making the rounds in some of the Scottish newsgroups. This is not technically a virus, but a Trojan Horse, or Worm, and is described and documented in the Symantec site you listed below. I know these warnings should only be transmitted through a List Owner, so I hope everyone will forgive the new guy if I've jumped the protocol.
