Hello fellow Spencer Searchers; Maybe someone on this list might be of help to me. My Spencer I am looking for is Ellis L. Spencer. He was born July 31, 1853-54. He also had a twin brother. I am looking for his parents. According tohis death record his parents were Delia Smith and Harry Spencer. And it stated that he was born in New York. Now since I have been unable to find a birth record I started looking for his marriage record and I found his marriage record in Keokuk, Iowa as he married my greatgrandmother Dora A. Knox who was born in Hancock Co. Illinois which is directly accross the Mississippi River from Keokuk. On the marriage application it state his parents as Delia Smith and Perry (Percy) Spencer. It was not easy to decipher the first name. I also found another reference that Delia Smith may have been married to a Calvin Spencer. Ellis Spencer and Dora Knox Spencer had two children, the first a son was named Ellis Rodman Spencer who was born March 13, 1887 in Des Moines, Iowa. Their second child named Gladys Emma Spencer born on March 7, 1889 in Brantford, Ontario, CA They then settled in the Detroit, Michigan area and lived their lives there until they died. Does anyone have Ellis Spencer in their line. I also beleive that the sons' middle name Rodman is an ancestors name. I was able to find a Rodman Spencer in Cambridge Town, Washington County, NY in the 1790 Census, 1800 and 1810., after that he disappeared. Is there any help out here for me? Anuy and all help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
