Janice, I have had a couple of contacts with Scovill descendants, Rhoda Scovill b.-1764-65 was my 3x great grandmother, she married Benjamin Bates. Rhoda's parents were Josiah Scovill and Frances. Rhoda and Benjamin had son Benjamin Lewis Bates b.-1805, went to NY, his children were Birney b.-1848, William b.-1850[My g-grandfather] and FLorence.John Scovill sent me a very large Scovill file which takes the Scovills back to 1100's in England. Trying to find out more about them in Haddam, CT. and also to try and track Benjamin Lewis' to New York. Haven't located his wives yet. Also looking for Joseph Bates who m.-Ruth Lewis in Haddam,CT this was Benjamin Lewis' grandparents. Would love any info you have on these families.
