I think I got this statement from Edward J. Brockett but do not have any evidence of this. Does anyone know about Abel's patiotic acts? - Participated in French and Indian War and American Revolution. I don't know where I got this information but I do not see his name on any list of participants in either war. Does anyone have any information here? - See History of Republican Party of Ohio, V. 2. I have this in my notes but do not have a copy of this book. Does this source include some reference to Abel because one of his descendants was a Republican politician in Ohio? - Where are Abel and Hannah buried? North Haven? Montowese Cemetery? - Abel's wife Hannah was of a very impressive CT family lineage. Hannah's paternal grandfather was Rev. James Pierpont, one of the ministers who founded Yale. James ministered to New Haven for 29 years. (He was also very involved in the Saybrook Platform.) Hannah's paternal grandmother Mary was the daughter of Rev Samuel Hooker of Farmington and the grandaughter of Rev. Thomas Hooker, the "founder of Connecticut". Hannah's maternal grandfather was Rev. Noadiah Russell, another of the founders of Yale. It would seem that Abel would have had to have been a man of the highest calabre (and social standing in the Colony) to have married Hannah. Why, then, do I find so little about who he was and what he accomplished in his life? I hope some of you will have some additional information for me! Cheers, Bob Squires
