The Dudley Family Generation A David DUDLEY was born in Dorking, Surrey, England 1579. David died about 1646 in Dorking, Surrey, England. David was possibly the son of Squire Thomas Dudley and _____ (White) Dudley. He married Joanna ARNOLD in Dorking, Surrey, England, 6 MAY 1604. Joanna was born in Dorking, Surrey, England about 1580. David DUDLEY and Joanna ARNOLD had the following child: +i. William1 DUDLEY was born 11 SEP 1608. First Generation William1 DUDLEY (David1) was born in England 11 SEP 1608. William1 died 5 MAR 1684 in Guilford, New Haven, CT, at 75 years of age. He signed the Guilford Covenant in 1639 when he brought his family to New England. Legend has it that the Guilford Dudleys are descended from the same family as Robert Dudley, the great Earl of Leicester, favorite of Queen Elizabeth. He married Jane LUTEMAN in Parish of Orkey, Surrey, England, 24 AUG 1636. Jane was born in Wysborough Green, England about 1615. She was the daughter of Jacob LUTEMAN. Jane died 1 MAY 1674 in Guilford, New Haven, CT. William1 DUDLEY and Jane LUTEMAN had the following child: + i. William2 DUDLEY was born 8 JUN 1639. Second Generation William2 DUDLEY (William1, David1) was born at Sea 8 JUN 1639. William2 died 17 MAY 1701 in Saybrook, Middlesex, CT. He married Mary ROE in Saybrook, Middlesex, CT, 4 NOV 1661. Mary was born in Weymouth, MA 17 1643. She was the daughter of Hugh Jr. ROE. Mary died 23 SEP 1727 in Saybrook, Middlesex, CT. William2 DUDLEY and Mary ROE had the following child: + i. Deborah DUDLEY was born in Saybrook, CT 11 NOV 1670. Deborah died 22 JUL 1709 in Haddam, Middlesex, CT, at 38 years of age. She married James BRAINERD in Haddam, Middlesex, CT, 1 APR 1696. James was born in Haddam, Middlesex, CT 2 JUN 1669. He was the son of Daniel BRAINERD and Hannah SPENCER. James died 10 FEB 1742 in Haddam, Middlesex, CT, at 72 years of age.
