Of course, he researched many New England families and published many genealogies. Although not infallible, the level of scholarship for his work as a whole is considered just about at the top of the heap. Much of this Spencer TAG work, especially the early generation or two, was researched by him, but was finished by another researcher because of his failing health, and contained "contributed" information that he, himself, did not research.
