Thanks, David. That was my first suspicion. The man I call Francis "Jr." is Francis/2 WHITMORE, son of Francis/1 WHITMORE of Cambridge, MBC -- who was brother to my Thomas/1 WHITMORE/WETMORE. Thomas, of course, was uncle to Francis/2 and that's probably why Francis/2 moved to Middletown out of all the towns in Colonial New England. Looks like there were too many ELIZABETHs running around Middletown.
