Crofoot My g-g-grandfather, Russell D. Crofoot was born "near Middletown, CT" Sept. 15, 1815 and lived there until he was 6, in 1821. Then his family moved to Turin (or W. Turin), Lewis county, NY. I have not been able to find out who Russell's parents were or if he had any siblings. I tried looking at the Middletown census for 1820 and Turin in 1830 to see if I could find someone who was in Middletown in 1820 and Turin in 1830, but came up empty handed. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Pat ------- End of forwarded message -------

    3. Jane, I would be interested in knowing just who all from Middletown went to Turin, as there seem to have been quite a few. My Turin ancestors were Jeduthan Higby and Jeduthan Higby, Jr. (b 1788 Middletown), who was married to Florenda Ragan in early 1800s, in Turin I believe. She died there eventually, but he seems to have left that family and gone South, in the 1830s or even earlier, as he has two more wives/families in Virginia. No divorce papers found yet, probably don't exist. These Higbys were ministers. Jed, Jr. is found in the Virginia census' for 1840 and 1850. Norma Unger
