He may have been the William who is listed in Cambridge along with Nicholas CLARK in 1634. Nicholas came to Hartford with the Hooker group and there is also a William CLARK, servant to John CROW, in Hartford in 1639/40. A William CLARK owned land in Hartford in 1660, and in was in Haddam after it was settled. I think that it was the same man in each case, but William CLARK is a fairly common name and I'm wondering if the books cover him. Thanks. Jane

    3. William Clark of Haddam is not mentioned in The Great Migration, Volume II, C-F. John Crow is not mentioned in there either. 3. Jane, I've checked both volumes and neither gives a William Clark as an early immigrant, and no mention of a William Clark in Haddam. William might be mentioned under connections as he and Nicholas were co-defendants in a law suit by Math[ew] ALLEN recorded in the Records of the Particular Court of Connecticut, on 4 Sep 1643. I'm looking through the Cambridge Town Records right now and while William is listed in the index, he's not on the page indicated there. Thanks for looking. Jane

    3. Hi, Jan, >Any mention of William CLARK who wound up in Haddam?????? There is a William Clark in the 1st vol of GMB 1620-1633: Robert Charles Anderson, The Great Migration Begins, Immigrants to New England 1620-1633, Vol. I (Boston: NEHGS, 1995), pp. 380-383. Now to see if he is yours.... Hmmmmm it appears there's much confusing on the William CLARKS of Salem and Watertown/Ipswich and the John CLARK of brielfly Boston and then of RI. This Wm. Clark was the one of Ipswich and at this time sees no relation to the others. This one migrated in 1630, first residing in Watertown, and removing to Ipswich in 1633. He was b. no later than 1610. md. Elizabeth -?-, and at this time no recorded children. He made several return trips to London and died there aft. 1640. As there is no mention of CT and no known children then this is not yours. No mention of a Nicholas CLARK. --- Susan [email protected] My Genealogy Website - sgt http://home.att.net/~SGTAYLOR1/ ----------------------------------------------- USGW Mansfield, CT - http://home.att.net/~SGTAYLOR1/mansfield.html USGW New London, CT - http://home.att.net/~SGTAYLOR1/newlondon.html USGW Norwich, CT - http://home.att.net/~SGTAYLOR1/norwich.html USGW Windham, CT - http://home.att.net/~SGTAYLOR1/windham.html USGW Coordinator Plymouth Co., MA - http://www.rootsweb.com/~maplymou/ USGW Plymouth, MA - http://www.rootsweb.com/~macplymo/ ********************************************************* He may >have been the William who is listed in Cambridge along with Nicholas >CLARK in 1634.
