Searching for any clues I found your message. What is interesting about this message is that my Schuyler and Gitty Ann Stow both born in NY state ca 1808 (his obit says Catskill Mountains near Hudson River), moved back and forth between Niagara Falls NY and Norfolk County, Ontario, Canada. They had a son William born ca 1829 - I haven't determined if he was the first born; there may be an older son Orin who married in Norfolk County around 1848. Anyway, William seems to have been some trouble, spent 6 years in Kingston Penetentiary for horse stealing and he was left $1.00 in the will! William's son, William, was born 1861, a twin, the other child died, and in the 1871 Norfolk census little William is living with William Provan (sometimes spelled Provin) a widower and his unmarried daughter. Little William appears to have been raised by the Provins as he is still in the home im 1881 and 1891. Seems like there could be a connection with you don't you think!!??
