    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Lucas, Walker Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/xY.2ADI/410 Message Board Post: I posted a query some time back [on the Lucas board] about Fanny Lucas, my GGgrandmother, who married John P. Walker. Some facts about her have come to light. She was born, not in Medina, Ohio, but in CT, according to the 1860 census, which has her as head of family, running a boarding house in Vernon Springs, Howard County, Iowa. John P. was a rolling stone who was off to Pike's Peak in search of gold at that time, eventually going all the way to California, then coming back in 1862 to fetch his family and bring them across the plains in a wagon train which he led to California. The family also lived in Waterloo, Wisconsin, where three of their four children were born (the youngest was born in Ohio, probably in Medina). It is possible, despite the census, that Fanny was born, or at least grew up, in Thetford, VT, as a branch of the family moved there from Middletown, CT, around 1790, and this is only a short distance from Vershire, VT, where John P. Walker was born and rais! ed. Fanny and John were both born in 1812 (census records). If anyone has any information to fill out this story, it would be much appreciated. I can furnish a list of all her descendants.
