    3. In the Jas. Carnahan Wetmore 1861 genealogy, she is given as "KATHERINE LEET, wid. of Mr. Robards." "Mrs. Catharine Leet, third wife of Thomas Whitmore, died Oct. 13, 1693; her will was made Aug. 14, 1688, by which she bequeathed her property to her first children, William, Samuel and John Robards, and her last children, Benjamin, Abigail and Hannah Whitmore." I don't see why, if there had been an intervening LEET(E) marriage, she was called the "widow of Mr. Robards." In the Middlesex Vital Records that Jane posted 8/24/99: "Wettmore, Thomas Senior married Leeke, Katterne 8 Oct 1673 [this name has sometimes been read as Leete]" This suggests that LEET(E)/LEEKE was her most recent married name. But could LEEKE/LEET(E) have been her maiden name? Hmmm. Note also the ROBARDS spelling, which is sometimes given as ROBARTS. Benjamin/3 WETMORE (Thomas/1, Samuel/2) m. 1719 Marcy ROBERTS, d/o Samuel and Mary. Perhaps it's the same ROBERTS family.
