Dear Listmembers: Here is an obit I located while in Ashtabula County, Ohio. I noted that some of the people that settled in this area of the Western Reserve were from Middlesex County. Ashtabula Telegraph March 2, 1888 --Mrs. Sarah Carter, wife of Mr. J. R. Reeve of Rome, and mother of Mrs. E. A. Simons of this city, died at her home on February 20th in the 69th year of her age. The deceased was born March 1st, 1819 in Clinton, Midlesex Co., Conn., and removed to Ashtabula county forty years ago. About seven years ago she was taken sick with rheumatic gout, which was followed by consumption. During all these years she suffered great pain, and for the past six years has been unable to walk. She was a woman of true christian character loved and respected by a large circle of friends, and her long sickness, suffering and death have brought out the keensest feelings of sympathy for her and her afflicted family. {Note: Sarah was the daughter of Silas and Hannah Bogue Carter.} Regards, Janece Carter Streig [email protected]
