Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/xY.2ADI/758 Message Board Post: Just over a year ago I contracted with Sandra Novak, who does business as Family History Preserved, operating out of 91 Quail Hollow Drive in Southington, CT 06489. Among other credentials on her web site (www.familyhistorypreserved.com) she listed membership in the Association of Professional Genealogists (APG). After paying $200.00 for a specific research task which was to have taken 3 months, I have waited 13 months for the contracted material. I have made regular e-mail queries about the status and each time received a response indicating some reason for the delay. The reasons ranged from waiting for copies from various jurisdictions to sending my final report to the wrong person and waiting for it to be returned. When I insisted on receiving an interim report based on the soft copy she must have kept of the final report, I was given excuses for about three days, then received an e-mail with family group sheets for three individuals. The information was something I could have found in 15 minutes on the internet. My last communication from Ms. Novak was September 19 2004 when she informed me that she had not yet received my package from the client who received it in error, but would follow up as soon as she took care of a family matter. When I didn't hear from her, I sent a query on October 25 2004 to which I received no response. On November 21 I again sent an e-mail laying out the terms of our contract and informing Ms. Novak that I would pursue legal action if I did not receive a response within one week. I've received no response. This is one person's experience.
