    1. Roll Call - BROWN 1890 ff, CLARK 1830 ff, BRAINERD 1640 ff
    2. I am attempting to confirm family memory concerning Hazel Beatrice BROWN who gave her birth as 26 Nov 1896. The parents she knew were William H. BROWN and his wife Cora Cordelia BROWN. When I asked about William and Cora BROWN in connection with an existing photo, my cousin, one of Beatrice's daughters told me that her father, Donald E. INGHAM, had told her that her mother, Beatrice, was adopted by the BROWNs. That her natural mother and father had worked for the BROWNs at CLARKHUST, that her natural father had been killed by a train and that her mother had chosen the BROWNs to adopt Beatrice. The name FLOOD was mentioned as a possible family name for the natural parents. The 1900 census for Haddam has the BROWNs, William, Cora, and Beatrice, living next door to the CLARKs, owners of CLARKHURST, with a servant name Emma FLOOD in the household. This all seems to fit but is still speculative. Where should I turn for firmer documentary evidence? Cora Cordelia (CLARK) BROWN's lineage clearly goes back to Daniel BRAINERD b. 1641. I'd like to trace William BROWN and Emma FLOOD back also. George Garrettson GWGPhila@aol.com
