Hi, Thanks for your offer. I also have that book, so am thankful that you were thinking. I found quite a few Tedfords, but none that I could relate to. You may spot something that I missed. I know there was a Tedford family on Hudson St. in Manchester, years ago. If my memory serves me right, the father had died, but the mother, daughter and son lived there. The son, was the fire chief for the North end fire dept. For some reason I can not remember his first name, and I believe we called him Teddy, which of course could have been a nickname. Now can you tell me who you are and what year you graduated? I am curious. Regards, Carole
I have a book from Manchester High that is a directory of students from years back. It tell's the name, address, phone and sometimes email. One of the girl's in my class is married to a Tedford. Want me to see if I can come up with anything?
Sure Phil, just jump in, the more the merrier. It even brought Chuck out of the woodwork. ;) I am awaiting dates for Mark Arnold and wife Mary Tedford. I do know they were married in Manchester Aug 5, 1908. The friend I am trying to help, sent pictures and the wedding announcement. I wrote to ask him if I could share it. It fascinated me. Carole CT

Hi Chuck, We exchanged emails several years ago and I've looked at your website several times. In Nov 2003 I attended the New England Genealogical Conference in Cape Cod and purchase a copy of "The Great Migration: Immigrants to New England 1634-1635, Vol I, A-B, which is a part of the Great Migration Study Project by NEHGS and was published in Boston, 1999. Pages 81-83 deal with John Arnold in a well-documented report. If you don't have the information already, I could email you a copy of what is included in those pages. I'm descended from Deacon Apollos Arnold of Chatham, CT. I've gathered a lot of information from Congregational Church records at the CT State Library in Hartford about Apollos' other children not listed in the Barbour Collection. I'm in the process of updating my GEDCOM Personal Ancestral File with new information, sources, etc. It's been several years since I've done that and I have a lot more information and documentation than I had previously when we exchanged emails. I spent several weeks travelling from NH to VT and copied information from VT's archive files on ALL the information on Arnolds. Let me know if you would like the information from the book mentioned above. Thanks Coralyn, Don't see anything with the names I have, but am getting dates, so hopefully will be able to track these people. Thanks so much for your writing and time. Carole CT
Hi, Thanks for the links to the Arnold info and more. I should have checked Jane's site, but I didn't think that far ahead. I have emailed my friend as I know he has dob, dom, dods. According to his post, his grandparents Mark Arnold and Mary Tedford, were married in Manchester CT. I will get the dates from him, if he wants to pursue this. He sounded interested and to tell you the truth with his historical interest in the town of Manchester, I was quite surprised that he had not done anything with genealogy. Hopefully I have peaked his interest. Will post dates if received, he did say he would look them up. Thanks to all, Carole CT
Carole, Preston et al: I have been researching this branch of the ARNOLD family since 1985 and have gathered quite a bit of info, most of which is documented, but, I'm sorry to say quite a bit of it is second and third hand info which is poorly documented. See my website at <http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~arnold> I have been able to go back to Joseph's father John ARNOLD (Hartford founder)b 1594 in England. I have seen other information on John's ancestors, but when I question authenicity no one can seem to document their sources. I've been researching Joseph Arnold and his descendants from the Haddam areas in CT for about 7 years. I have gathered a lot of information. Which Arnold family are you researching? A long time ago, someone on this list, I believe was researching Arnold. Would be most interested in hearing from you. Am trying to help a friend get some history on his family. Surprised how little he knows. Thank you, Carole CT

Hi Warren, Do not know of a Crow anything, but will stay tuned and see if I come up with anything. There is a Christopher Crow in the Ancient Windsor book, which says (see also John Crow, prob. a relative who was also at Htfd--Hftd. Co.Mem. His, i 235: Goodwins East Hftd); We have Goodwin Technical School which is in New Britain. Wadsworth St. Wadsworth Antheneum (sp) I was born and grew up one street above Wadsworth in Hftd. From that passenger list of the Lyon, John Benjamin and Abigail Eddy. Mary White md. Loomis, Anna White md John Porter, then Elizabeth White md Wm Goodwin. John Loomis sailed from London, Apr. 1638 and arrived Boston July 17, 1638. He married Mary White in Messing, county Essex England, 1614. The Loomis's go on here for 21 pages. You can see the mix of the Chaffee family throughout. We have the Loomis Chaffee school (private). Anna White md John Porter and we have Miss Porter's school (private), where Jacqueline Kennedy attended. The links you sent were nice. I enjoyed them. Hope to follow up on the Cornish thing. Cannot believe that I did not print in her name, then went back, only to look at the post it note that I left on the page, questioning why these people were even posted on this page when they were on an earlier page. Have to look into it, but again I think it is one of those deals where the line leads back to the same ancestors. Nothing like a little confusion for an already confused old lady. You probably have more than I do for information, but just in case I can be of any help. I have the entire 1880 census and many census indexes, which of course you can few the census files at Godfrey site, not sure if you have a card. Those in CT with a library card can go thru that site and view them. I do have a membership for NEHGS, so if need be, don't hesitate to ask. Will do whatever I can to help. You said you are back in VA now. My brother's family lives in Norfolk, he passed away ,my other brother's son just left VA for NC. Got to visit twice and I thought it was a nice place. Lot of traffic, but then just turn off the main way onto their street and it's almost like it's own little town. Cousin, Carole CT
