    3. This is directed to Jim Hayden but if he is no longer doing lookups and you have the book "The Rosman Lawrence Family [Middletown] by Mrs. A. Lawrence Jinks, circa 1958, would you please do a lookup for me. I am trying to locate a Rev Jinks in Middletown, Ct, circa 1815/1818. His church and name is mentioned on pages 65-77 of "Accounts of Religious Revivals in many parts of the United States, from 1815-1818" published in 1819 by Joshua Bradley, A.M. If you are a Jinks, I also would like to know more about you. Best regards, Elizabeth Jinks P.S. I am sorry a first name was not given for Jinks.

    3. I think probably, you should call the library in Middletown to ask what they have. It seemed pretty complete., Tracy ----- Original Message ----- From: "Pat Zagorski" <waggins@juno.com> To: <CTMIDDLE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, February 08, 2005 8:59 AM Subject: [CTMID] Middletown Press > Does anyone know if the Middletown Press is on microfilm for the 1970's? > Thanks, > Pat > > > ==== CTMIDDLE Mailing List ==== > For anyone who missed them, Robert Squire has posted images of > Middlesex County section of John Warner Barber's Connecticut Historical Collections at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ctimages/ > > ============================== > Find your ancestors in the Birth, Marriage and Death Records. > New content added every business day. He came to US in 1899 (I dont know how). All I know is that he lived in Middletown CT per the 1910 Census with wife Laura, 4 children and father-in-law, Joseph Ladiso. Someone found him in the 1911 directory in Middletown CT in 1911. Then he disappears..... The only other thing I know is his wife shows up in 1914 and remarries..... there are 2 different rumors.... 1 is he went crazy and died ??? Not sure what that means and the other is he committed suicide..... But I cannot find any death cert info..... Not sure if he just left CT..... and she went on to NY and remarried....... Can anyone suggest anything??? Thanks

    1. Re: Nathaniel Bacon
    2. Hi Lin, I was intrigued by your message about Nathaniel BACON who moved from Middletown, CT to Lanesboro, MA and then to Ballston Spa. I have an ancestor, Hiel SAVAGE, who did the same thing in that same time frame. He was b. in 1759 in Middletown, moved to Lanesboro and served in the Revolution from there, and was in Ballston Spa in the 1790 census. I, too, would like to know why he moved to those places, and is it coincidence that both familes followed the same route? He would have been the same age as the BACON children you listed on your message. Are we on to something here? Barbara

    3. Hi Lin, I have the following on Reuben Sprague: ""Supplement to Sprague Families in America", by Dr. Warren Vincent Sprague, 1940, page 49. Reuben Sprague resided at Lanesborough, MA and Charlton, NY. His will was dated August 22, 1816, proved January 29, 1818, names wife Mary _____ and children listed except Ann. He did not own land in Lanesborough. Was admitted to church in Lanesborough in 1779. 1790 Census Ballston, Saratoga Co., NY 1-2-4. 1800, February 12. Residence Charlotte, VT. Sold his land there to Nathaniel Newell for $1,666.60. Took notes for part of this amount which were payable when due at Ballston, NY. " I had no previous connection to the Bacon family as the above reference makes no mention of Mary's maiden name. What is your source for the Sprague name? The Spragues and Hollisters [of Wethersfield, CT] went to Four Corners area of NY after Revolutionary War--may have been some sort of "land grant" for military service. [Some references called it the "Burnt Over District"] My Reuben Sprague and Mary _____ had children which they named Amy and David--both names of Mary Bacon's siblings. I'm strongly in favor of my Mary____ being a "Bacon." Even their location strongly suggests it. 2. My Bacon ancestor is George who settled in Hingham, MA. We used to live in Ballston Spa, NY outside of Saratoga Springs. They, too, have springs, and the townsfolk were, and I suppose, still are collecting those spring waters that are supposed to cure many ills. It's possible they went there for the "cure". Marge

    1. Watrous stone wall
    2. My biggest stone wall is finding the parents of Lydia WATROUS, b. ~1749, who married Samuel BUCKINGHAM. The book, Waterous, Jerry E., The Families of Jacob Waterhouse, (Higginson Book Co., Salem, MA, 1993), has her listed as the daughter of Adam WATROUS, but there is no documentation given. The family my have been in Lyme, CT, and I don't know what county Lyme would be in, in that time frame. Any suggestions for records to prove her parentage, and where to find the record? Sue Wilson

    2. There was a nursery on the Silas Deane Highway back in the middle 50's. As I remember they closed around the 60's. They did business with Gardner's Nurseries on Brook St., Rocky Hill - who are still in business. You might try contacting them to see if anyone still has old records or memories.
