    1. Susquehanna Company Papers
    2. Linda Lawrence
    3. I've just become aware that there was something called the 'Susquehanna Company' about 1754-1803 that has something to do with land grants and migration from CT to PA. These are books listing names of CT folks that went 'west' to PA in the late 1700s? Does anyone have access to copies of these books? And would you be willing to search for any reference to LAWRENCE, Henry, Benjamin and Jonathan, and BAILEY, Robert, and Griffin. We know our LAWRENCEs say, on the PA census, that they came from CT to PA, but don't know why and can't find them in CT - yet! Thanks for any help - good searching to all! 3. Dear Dave and Neal: The "Middlesex County Biographical Record" says that George Hubbard and Elizabeth Watts had eight children: Mary (who married Thomas Ranney- "who was born in Scotland in 1616; he was a wealthy man and the only one of his family to come to America.") was the first, and Nathaniel was the sixth. There seems to be a lot on the Hubbard family in this record. Jennifer L.

    3. Hi Folks, I try not to get into discussions on virus hoaxes but this one is NOT a hoax. It is listed and details given at the Symantec Virus site. I actually got one of these delivered in my mail. DO NOT OPEN or RUN it!!! I didn't and just deleted it. You have to empty your trash after deleting to be sure it is off your hard drive and won't get clicked on by accident. All was well with me because I followed the rules of NEVER opening an executable file when you don't know the source and haven't asked for it. Even so I had someone check my e-mail to be sure I was not sending it out to others. This thing attaches and can be sent without you knowing it to others but ONLY if you open it. Rootsweb protects us by blocking attachments and the source of my experience was not from a rootsweb list so rest easy on this list - the list Mom gets the joy of sorting through all that. 1. Port of Entry for Middletown - 1850
    2. Tim Millar
    3. Greetings, I'm new to the list and need to know where to look for shipping records between 1850 and 1890. Which port is the likely point of arrival for a ship sailing from Glasgow if the ultimate destination of an immigrant or passenger was Middletown? New London or New Haven were established ports by then, I believe, but were they likely for immigration purposes? James CRAIG came from Glasgow in 1850 or 1851. His family followed in 1851, he made at least one trip back to Scotland by about 1869 and a niece came to stay with the family for all of 1884. Can you help me narrow down the search for shipping records? Thanks, Tim Millar Cape Cod, MA

    3. Alice, Are you the SYSOP, er -List Owner<G>? I just joined the list and will echo your warning about "Happy99". I *finally* heard from my researcher in Scotland last night after over a month of no messages. She explained that it really nailed her system and she's only now getting back to normal. She said it was making the rounds in some of the Scottish newsgroups. This is not technically a virus, but a Trojan Horse, or Worm, and is described and documented in the Symantec site you listed below. I know these warnings should only be transmitted through a List Owner, so I hope everyone will forgive the new guy if I've jumped the protocol. 3. ======================================================= With all the hoaxes and fake virus warnings that we see being passed around, it is easy to forget that there are real viruses out there with the capability to do real damage. One of the new viruses that is making the rounds on some mailing lists is the Happy99.exe or W32/Ska. This has infected several genealogy mailing lists and making a general nuisance of itself. 3. Neal: Beer's "Biographical Record" of Middlesex County says Jonathan Burr was a decendant of Benjmain Burr- one of the first settlers of Hartford. Jonathan settled early at Middletown." >From there the book traces only the line of Nathaniel, son of Jonathan and Abigail. Jennifer L.

    3. Hi.. Could those of you who have been researching this area for a while provide a list of books and CDs that cover the towns and families found in Middlesex County for the benefit of those just starting their search? It would be nice if in addition to titles and authors, a short review could be provided - i.e. what makes this book one that people should own or go searching for at a library or FHC? Is it worth the price being charged? And so on.... Thanks.. looking forward to some interesting posts. Jane
