Bill, Thanks for your kind offer. I am a descendant of Abel's son Hezekiah and am not planning to document the Goodsells extensively. I do know (or think I know)) that Hannah's father was John and her mother was Abigail Chidsey. If you could give me vitals for Hannah and her parents, I'd appreciate it. Thanks. Bob "James W. Hi Bob, Here is the page for the Pierpont Family online. Your Abel is there and it is mentioned he served in the French and Indian Wars as well as the Revolution. The DAR or SAR should have information on him if he served in the Revolution and there are sites online to chase those who served in the French and Indian Wars. gopher://ccat.sas.upenn.edu:70/00/journals/kraftpub/Genealogical/Pierpont%20Family/pierpont.gen Gail rjswlw wrote: > > I am presently trying to learn more about my 5th g. grandfather Abel > Brockett. Bob: I do not know if you are interested in the GOODSELLS in Watertown, CT, but there was a Timothy Goodsell who d 27 Mar 1832 and is buried in the Old Cemetery at Watertown. Also a Sarah Goodsill (?) age 79, d 27 Sep 1833. I am in the process of transcribing names from "Record Of Mortality in Westbury and Watertown" from 1741 to the late 1800's. If there is anyone else from this time period you are interested in I will see if I can help you. I also noticed a Candee or two and Barnes listed. I hang on the Barnes tree. I think I got this statement from Edward J. Brockett but do not have any evidence of this. Does anyone know about Abel's patiotic acts? - Participated in French and Indian War and American Revolution. I don't know where I got this information but I do not see his name on any list of participants in either war. Does anyone have any information here? - See History of Republican Party of Ohio, V. 2. I have this in my notes but do not have a copy of this book. Does this source include some reference to Abel because one of his descendants was a Republican politician in Ohio? - Where are Abel and Hannah buried? North Haven? Montowese Cemetery? - Abel's wife Hannah was of a very impressive CT family lineage. Hannah's paternal grandfather was Rev. James Pierpont, one of the ministers who founded Yale. James ministered to New Haven for 29 years. (He was also very involved in the Saybrook Platform.) Hannah's paternal grandmother Mary was the daughter of Rev Samuel Hooker of Farmington and the grandaughter of Rev. Thomas Hooker, the "founder of Connecticut". Hannah's maternal grandfather was Rev. Noadiah Russell, another of the founders of Yale. It would seem that Abel would have had to have been a man of the highest calabre (and social standing in the Colony) to have married Hannah. Why, then, do I find so little about who he was and what he accomplished in his life? I hope some of you will have some additional information for me! Cheers, Bob Squires

Seeking information on Sarah SPARROW who married Elisha FULLER, b. 1749, East Haddam, CT. The couple had two sons, Ezra Newell FULLER and Elisha FULLER (Jr?), b. 1771, d. 1845. The elder Elisha died 7 Aug 1778, in East Haddam. The younger Elisha married Rachel BRAINERD in 1793 and moved to East Hamilton, Madison Co., NY. Have information on the FULLERs back to Matthew FULLER whose father, Edward FULLER, came over on the Mayflower. Now need to investigate the SPARROW line. Any information or clues would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Jane
Yes, this is a great Haddam site! I had lost the link to it when I last upgraded browsers. Be sure to check out ww.eBay.com for genealogy, family, and local history books. I've gotten some good deals from eBay. If you bid and really want the item, you need to stay on top of it for the last several minutes of the auction...that's when bidders snipe! I had a bid in for a history of East Haddam for an auction that ended this evening. Unfortunately, I had to go out. When I came home, the auction was over and I had been sniped! You can avoid this to some extent by setting the highest reserve price you are willing to pay. Some auctions get a little wild. It never makes sense to pay more for an item than it would cost at a bookstore. Of course...now I may have even more competition :) Robert Squires Bill & Carolee wrote: > How about this Haddam, CT web site at http://www.haddam.com/tucker/ . I would appreciate you letting me know if these surname families are in your book indexes. I have mostly been researching my father's family in the West, and have just begun on the New England States. By knowing if the indexes reference these surnames, I can most likely acquire the book through NEHGS or interlibrary loan. Hello. I have been working my way through the queries I received. A number of listers were asking for information about families of East Haddam. Haddam, East Hartland, and surrounding towns. I don't have any Haddam resources. Can anyone on the list suggest some? Thanks. Robert Squires
Nicole, I'm sorry to report that I couldn't find any of these people in my resources. There must be genealogy books about Haddam, though. Some of my own oldest families (e.g., Hungerford, Spencer) lived there. Good luck! Robert Squires Nicole wrote: > Hi! You may not have this info, but, I am ever > hopeful...
