    1. [CTMID] Family of William Pamphilion REEVE and Jane Frances BOCOCK, from England
    2. Dear Middlesex Listers, Thanks to some wonderful assistance received overnight, I have now established that my wife's GGG Uncle, William Pamphilion REEVE (born about 1817 at Linton, Cambridgeshire, England), and his wife (and my wife's first cousin four times removed), Jane Frances BOCOCK (whom he married at Exning, Suffolk, England, in October 1847), emigrated to the good old U.S. of A. after 1853 and before 1859. The 1860 US Census shows that William Pamphilion REEVE, a miller, aged 44, born in England, lived at Middletown, Middlesex County, Connecticut, with his wife, Jane Frances REEVE, aged 36, born in England, and his children: William M. REEVE, aged 11, born in England; Thomas REEVE, aged 9, born in England; Samuel REEVE, aged 7, born in England; and John REEVE, aged 11 months, born in Connecticut. The 1880 US Census shows (sadly) that Jane Frances REEVE, a widow, aged 55, born in England, lived at Burlington, Hartford County, Connecticut, with her son, John REEVE, a farmer, unmarried, aged 20, born in Connecticut. It appears (also from the 1880 US Census) that the eldest son, William REEVE, a machinist, aged 31, born in England, lived at New Britain, Hartford County, Connecticut, with his wife, Flora Reeve (nee ?), aged 28, born in Massachusetts, and his children: William R. REEVE, aged 9; Thomas REEVE, aged 7; and Alice REEVE, aged 5, all born in Connecticut - and that the second son Thomas REEVE, a jeweller, unmarried, aged 28, born in England, lived at the home of Sarah C. HARDY, a widow, at Springfield, Hampden County, Massachusetts. If anyone in the United States links with any of the above, I should be pleased to 'hear' from them! Yours, etc. Geoffrey Woollard in Cambridgeshire, England.

    2. In searching for my new found HOLCOMB[E] line, I came across a list of freemen from Windsor in 1669. Just finished transcribing it and uploading it to the site. Hope those of you who are searching a wider area of CT find something you can use. Jane list mom http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~jdevlin/

He may have, Coralynn often transcribes for both of us and because of vacation, the resulting work overload after vacation and being sick, I'm behind. My thought, and Ray's too, is that you can't have data in too many places on the web so people can find it. Jane list mom http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~jdevlin/

    1. [CTMID] New England Seafarers
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/xY.2ADI/423 Message Board Post: This is to let folks know of a brand new mailing list and message board on RootsWeb. We just started this week. With a long and glorious maritime tradition in New England, the topic of this list and board is the genealogy and history of New England as it pertains to the seafaring community and the ships they sailed on. I am descended from the Cann line in New England and Nova Scotia, and many of my ancestors Captained or otherwise sailed on many of these ships. I invite anyone to join us, and share our interest in this area of genealogy. If you would care to subscribe to the list, send the usual "subscribe" (without the quotes) message to: [email protected] for "mail" mode or [email protected] for "digest" mode To visit the message board, go the RootsWeb Message Board home page, then click on "browse all topics," then "occupations," and finally "Seafarers of New England." I will be looking forward to seeing you all there. David E. Cann [email protected] List & Board Administrator

    3. Well, I am slowly refining my search for my Penney ancestors. I have pieced together some information leading me to believe my great grandfather, Eben R. Penney, Sr., died in Newington, CT around 1948. Would anyone on the list be willing to look for an obituary? Are there any online cemetery listings for that area? I haven't been able to locate any so far. Any help on locating where he may be buried would be wonderful! Thanks so much! Christine Elkins San Luis Obispo, CA

He was born in 1802 and lived there until 1941. Would like to know the names of his parents if possible....Also we have him as marrying Mary Maloney..according to family history and also an article written in 1918 about his grandson Augustus Dickinson lists his wife as Mary Maloney of Connecticut....but have seen on the Barbour collection his wife is supposedly Julie Ann Maloney....so there is an error somewhere....Any information on Phineas Dickinson would be greatly appreciated. :)
