    1. [CTMID] Connecticut Visit
    2. Listmembers: I have the opportunity the week after next to visit Connecticut for a few days. I have plans to take many pictures at the Clinton cemetery with digital cameras. If you have some special requests to take any tombstone pictures, I will try to include them in this visit. I will need them by Wednesday, June 12 so that I can put them all together for the trip. Also, I may have time for maybe one other place to visit for family records (if we get the cemetery work done). My lines are pretty much in Clinton, Westbrook and Saybrook. Do you have any suggestions or guidance for me to make the most of this time? I have never been in CT before so everything is new to me. Thank you for your support and advice! 1. [CTMID] Update on Hubbard Homestead, Middletown
    2. Progress is being made in the quest to preserve the Robert Hubbard Homestead in Middletown. Carolyn Laban, who is spearheading this effort, needs emails of encouragement and moral support. Please take a few minutes to read the following little website I made for the project, and then email her your support. She was told by the Town Officials that producing letters and emails from people who are in agreement with what she is trying to do, would help a LOT. http://coralynn-photos.freehomepage.com Thanks!! 2. Candice Allbee
    3. Hello My name is Candice Allbee and I am new to this list. I am grasping at straws, this WHIPPLE line has been a hard one for me and I am wondering if there is any help I can get. JOSEPH WHIPPLE was born 1803 in CT, where exactly I have no idea, I have a few leads though, none of which as of yet I have been able to track. CHRISTOPHER WHIPPLE was born 1801 CT and I have been assuming that they are brothers as They are both In Geauga OHIO together, there is a JOSEPH WHIPPLEs signature on the marraige certificate of Christopher as well. They were also both born in CT. The ladies geneology that came from the Christopher line said that there is a possibility that ELIJAH WHIPPLE was CHRISTOPHERs Father, no information other than that was able to be obtained by this lady and that is all I know. Is there a 1800 census available for this area? Im not sure what elce may help me other than a birth certificate for Joseph and Christopher, and how atainable are those? I would appreciate any help at all because I am looking at the vast area of CT in this time frame, a needle in a haystack basically. Thank you for your time for reading my message. 1. [CTMID] Thomas Lewis - Middletown, CT/Barnstable, MA connection?
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/xY.2ADI/424 Message Board Post: I would appreciate any info on Thomas Lewis, husband of Sarah _______, and the father of Zebulon Lewis (b. May 4, 1687 as cited in the Middletown Vital Records). Thomas is my 9g-grandfather, and I have conflicting data regarding the identity of Thomas's parents. According to "The Lewis Genealogy c. 1600-1970", by Lewis Hodges (my great uncle) and Gail Peacock: "(3) Thomas Lewis (From Lewis Letters, Vol. 3, p 64 in the Detroit Burton Historical Collection, by George Lewis of Hingham Center, Mass.) Thomas Lewis, born July 15, 1656 - married Jane _______ who survived him. He died March 19, 1718. The children were: Thomas born at Falmouth John Joseph Dinah George born at Eastham May 6, 1691 Nathaniel " " March 31, 1696 Rebecca " " March 17, 1698 Benjamin " " Oct. 8, 1700 Sarah " " June 2, 1704 Apphia " " May 9,1704 Thomas died March 19, 1718. His will was dated Jan. 15, 1713 and proved April 23, 1718-19. He appointed his wife Jane sole executrix and names sons Thomas, John, George, Nathaniel and Benjamin and four daughters. (Note: No mention is made here of Zebulon)" The references to this Thomas that I've found on the internet show he died in Eastham, MA. However, according to "Middletown town records - Dates of admittance 1658-1730" a certain Thomas Lewis was admitted as an inhabitant on December 29, 1713, along with John Gaines and Robert Collins. An even more significant however, according to the Middletown Vital records, besides my Zebulon, eight more children were born to Thomas and Sarah from 1689-1707, none of which match the children born to the above-mentioned Thomas and Jane. The most intriguing however, however, is that some sites show that Zebulon Lewis's mother to be a certain Sarah Bassett, daughter of William Bassett and Mary Rainsford, who (it is supposed) married one Thomas Lewes of Falmouth, MA at Falmouth in 1683. This Sarah Bassett it seems had two half-brothers - one, James Percival, removed to East Haddam, CT - the other, John, remained at Barnstable. My question is therefore twofold: 1) Who is Zebulon Lewis's mother? 2) Who is Thomas Lewis's father? Anyone have a good answer? I'd be thrilled to hear from you. BTW, I have photos of some of Zebulon's descendants starting with Ralph Buckingham Lewis, son of Nathan, son of Augustus, son of Nathan, son of Zebulon. I'd be happy to share. Thank you, Rick Seelhoff [email protected]

    2. In a recent posting (CTMIDDLE digest volume 125) there was a request for information on Ebenezer Roberts. I would be interested in the line which connects to my Ebenezer Roberts of about 1763. Ebenezer ROBERTS born about 1763 married Rene DOUD born 1763. (This is probably the third Ebenezer). Rene also marries a CORNWELL. Rene is the daughter of Richard DOUD and Pheobe FOSTER. Richard is the son of David DOUD and Mary CORNWELL. David is the son of John DOUD and Mary BARTLETT. All are of the Middlesex area and nearby Killingworth. Thanks
