I am trying to find my great, great, great grandfather, Avery Brown; his wife's first name is Clarissa. My great, great grandfather was Avery Brown and from his death certificate and census records, he was born in 1800 in CT; he is buried in MI. The Avery Brown Sr in Norwalk is eliminated - his wife's first name is Betty. The Avery Brown Sr of Stonnington is eliminated because his son, Avery, is buried in the same cemetery in Chenango Co., NY. There was an Avery Brown listed in the 1810 census for Groton but is this the Avery Brown of Stonington or Norwalk? I sure would like to know as he is a potential. If anyone has any information on my g g g gf, I would be very, very appreciative. Thanks. Karl MacEachron Fresno CA

I'm curious if anyone has found any more information (proof) of the ancestry of John SAVAGE of Cromwell who married Elizabeth DUBBIN (d'AUBIN). I have him born in 1627 Beeston, Cheshire, England and dying 6 Mar 1685 in Cromwell, Middlesex, CT. I believe his parents were Thomas SAVAGE (b:abt 1610 Rocksavage, Cheshire; d: Beeston, Cheshire) and Briget WHITMORE. Grandparents were Viscount Thomas SAVAGE (b: 1586 Rocksavage, d:1635 Tower Hill, London) and Elizabeth DARCE. Great Grands were John IX SAVAGE and Mary ALLINGTON. Some have noted John of Cromwell parents to be Thomas SAVAGE (b:1607 Taunton, d:1682 Boston, Mass) and Faith HUTCHINGSON. But it appears this Major from the Phillips War immigrated in 1635 and married in 1637....and other evidence shows he is not John's father. His father, William, was another son of John IX and Mary. Any help on this line? Pete Hanson
My wife's Ellen O'BTIEN was born around 1877 in Ireland. She immigrated around 1895. This is the information from the 1910 Census. She married Patirck DRISCOLL in Middletown, CT in 1902 at St. Francis Church. (Middletown is across the river from Porltland). Patrick was born in 1866 Cork, Ireland, and immigrated in 1888. I have not found any pre-Driscoll info for Ellen O'Brien. Looking at immigration I see possibilities of her arriving on the "Brittanic" from Liverpool on 4 Oct 1895 (age 17) or on the "Adriatic" from Queenstown, County Cork on 29 June 1895 (age 19). Their daughter Mary Ellen DRISCOLL married Harry McINTYRE. They lived in Cromwell (the town north of M'Town). She was buried at Hilltop Cemetery, Bow Lane, Middletown, CT. McIntyre's family were attendees of (& buried at) St. John's in Middletown. Pete Hanson Cromwell, CT

In 1880's (I think), St. Mary's of Portland started. It was a Catholic Church that my Irish relatives went to after being at St. John's in Middletown. They also have a cemetery they own. Perhaps some of the relatives were buried there. Good Luck, Tracy

I believe that Cobalt is a section in the town of East Hampton. It is in the western part of East Hampton and borders Portland. I think that there two Catholic Cemeteries in East Hampton, 1) Old Catholic Cemetery on Middletown road and 2) St. Patrick Roman Catholic Cemetery at 19 Maple Street. Personally, I would check the Charles Hale Collection, Cemetery Inscriptions for East Hampton first to see where they are buried. You can order them on microfilm through your local Family History Center from the Library in Salt Lake City. The Connecticut State Library has the information in books, if you are near Hartford, Connecticut.
