I believe he was in what was Hillsdale or Noblestown, Columbia Co., NY just over the border from Great Barrington, Mass. The children may have been born in Mass or NY as they were so close to the current border. Alanson was married in Great Barrington, NY in 1823. I was up and went through the libraries but was not able to come up with any data that was of use. I would appreciate any info you have on his birth. We have it as 1Jul 1796 and I believe it is in Hillsdale, NY. He is buried in Delmar Twp. outside of Wellsboro, PA. In the 1835 NY census that is kept in Pen Yan, NY I found a record where Solomon states he "was born in Westchester, NY". That raises more questions than it answers for me. I have been looking in the border area on NY and CT as I believe he was born in Greenwich Twp., Fairfield Co., CT in 1753. I have not been able to get up there to prove or disprove my thoughts. All of my research so far has shown that most information is close but wrong due to shifting borders of the states and realignment of counties, etc.. Solomon and Mary are buried at Porters Corners, NY which is east of Barrington, Yates Co., NY. I was not able to come up with Mary's name in any of the records that I found in the historical society. I am a descendant of Alanson and have a large portion of the genealogy of his descendants.
