Zalmon is the son of John Crofut b. 1735. Newton seems to be the area of residence. In many of the records on line it shows Stephen Crofut and Adrea Couch as the father of Zalmon Crofut. However, in the conneticut records it is shown as John Crofut, brother of Stephan is actually the father of Zalmon and that Ester Sanford was his mother. Who ever did the sight on Gen.com has the same information. what I can't figure out is why so many people have it wrong or are they right? The information I received from the Conneticut library show Redding/Newton as the township or origin. I still haven't found out how Zalmon had so many kids and no wife, but one can only use their imagination. If you have any other information, I'd love to hear it. I do have a lot of pictures back to about the mid 1800's of the Crowfut's. Wished I had something more of the later families such as pictures of the area, housing and etc! , but think I've done okay.
