On the Greenwich USGenWeb site, it says that prior to 1853, Greenwich probate records can be found at the Stamford and Fairfield Probate Offices. I am trying to figure out if there is a film I can order from the Family History Library with these Greenwich probate records. When I look up Greenwich probate there, it is only 1853 on. When I look up Stamford, it says Stamford Probate District includes the towns of Stamford and Darien. When I look up Fairfield, it just lists Fairfield. Does anyone know if the pre-1853 Greenwich records are included on the Stamford films? Thanks, Holly>>> HI, Holly Yes, I believe that is correct. I have not personally pulled probate records from the mid-1800s, but Greenwich was part of the Stamford Probate District until 1853. There are two filmed records available from the FHC 1729-1848: Abstracts by Spencer Percival Mead and filmed records of the actual files. 1. Abstract of probate records for the *district of Stamford, county of Fairfield, and state of Connecticut, 1729-1848 - FHL US/CAN Film [ 5561 Items 1-2 ] Another filming.
